So you think you know what bachata dancing in the Dominican Republic looks like?
This multi-media presentation by director Adam Taub will challenge those assumptions,
open you to the possibilities, and energize your bachata dancing.
In reality, bachata dance styles are incredibly diverse within the DR and around the world!
Exploring dance through videos, slides, interviews, lecture, movement and interactive elements
this presentation goes deep into the roots, evolution and various styles of bachata dance.
We will also dig into elements that influence dance style such as musicality, timing, footwork, partnering,
body movement and more.
Adam Taub has lived, traveled and researched extensively in the Dominican Republic and directed the documentary film “The Duke of Bachata” and musician Joan Soriano.
He has also researched Bachata outside of the DR, at dance venues and festivals, interviewing many of the prominent bachata instructors in the world today. In addition to film and multi-media presentation work Adam teaches bachata dance workshops, specializing in various styles from the Dominican Republic.
Presenting and teaching experience includes the Reno, LA and DC Bachata Festivals, the San Diego Salsa/Bachata Congress, The Albuquerque Latin Dance Fest, Film Festivals and various Latin dance studios and venues.
